The fragility of ore depends upon its strength. In a crushed product or mining product, the fragile ore degen-erate to a undesirable fine product during blasting, excavation, loading and transportation. Similarly in a crushing and comminution process by crusher, ball mill or rod mill, as the ore of high strength attains to a desired size, the fragile ore degenerates to superfine.
HGI test results were compared with the PSD results. A new method for the prediction of HGI of limestone samples from both of the quarries (Quarry-1 and Quarry-2) was proposed. Significant correlation (R 2 = 0.84) was obtained with D 90 size parameter. In terms of grinding energy calculations, Bond Work Index (BWI) was taken into consideration.
